Meet Anthony Narine

NLP-Somatic Coach

With 20 years cumulative experience in coaching, project management, business development and consulting, Tony’s passion for social change led him to want to support others through leadership development and coaching. Based in Trinidad and Tobago, he now focuses on coaching emerging leaders in career transitions, executives in navigating organizational complexity and youth leaders.

Through NLP Somatic coaching, Tony has been able to merge his passions for human rights, learning, leadership development, equity, diversity, and inclusion and support his clients and his teams in taking their personal and professional development to the next level.

We asked Tony about how he has been using the Conscious Change model in his coaching practice and about what has shifted and changed in his own life since graduating from ALCN.

What did you envision your coaching journey being like when you left the program? What changes did you make in your life?

On my graduation from ALCN’s 2019 Summer Intensive Program, I set about building a coaching practice.  This vision was fleshed out as part of the program.  It involved me still retaining my full-time corporate role, whilst simultaneously investing in my private practice with a longer term goal of being based back home in Trinidad working as a coach with global clients. In the program. I was able to confront certain limiting beliefs, tap into intrinsic motivation and set up some definitive milestones.

My mindset proved the most significant change – natural curiosity, exploration balanced with deliberate, incremental actions, were what was needed. I was able to personally reconcile an important relationship and even more beautifully leverage a network of peers, whom I consider family.

How has the pandemic impacted your coaching business trajectory and how have you re-designed your life from that?

Have you ever heard of an adult being happy to be grounded? That’s me! My job required travel and working across multiple time-zones. Due to travel restrictions, the pandemic allowed me to be at home in Trinidad and Tobago. I was able to focus my energy into the start-up of the business, be more reflective and creative.

I was able to embrace my inner digital nomad, leveraging technology to connect with global clients. I also recognized an increasing importance of coaching during these times. It resulted in my business shifting focus to supporting at-risk children and adolescents who were significantly impacted by social distancing restrictions and other pandemic protocols.

What coaching tools or skills that you learned from the ALCN conscious change model have you found yourself using to support you during these changing times?

Although I actively work with change, the duration and evolving nature of the pandemic most definitely affected my own resilience and self-care.

The use of somatic techniques and accessing powerful, resourceful states were integral in keeping me grounded and recharged along the way.

From a business perspective, the Walt Disney Strategy and Accessing Mentors were instrumental in checking up and tuning into my mindset change.

I have found the use of the tools instrumental in supporting change in my own life as well as those around me.
